About Me

Based in Prague, I am an English singer, song-writer, writer and teacher with a particular passion for acoustic/jazz music. I work as a soloist and also with a band: Ondrej Hlavsa (drums), Ondrej Malina (guitar) and Jakub Antl (bass). I also partnered with composer Daniel Kyzlink (as lyricist) for a work called The Rock Mass which was recently performed with the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra.
I love songs which have poetic and evocative lyrics, but for me, music has to groove as well - it has to move you in some way.
There are links here to some of the other projects I'm involved with, but the main purpose of this site is to encourage you to contact me and book me (or me + band) for a gig or workshop/seminar. Hope to hear from you, and thanks so much for visiting.

Performances of The Rock Mass and a new album

Happy New Year to you! Here's some great news for a change...

Although I'm not doing much publicly at the moment, a lot is going on behind the scenes which will lead to some innovative concert performances in the future.

The Rock Mass

First, I'm thrilled to be able to announce two Rock Mass shows at the Městské divadlo Brno on 14 and 15 April. These shows will feature the same soloists from the UK as on the CD – Kirsten Joy and Gaz Twist – with full orchestra and rock band. They will be amazing shows! Tickets will be available from the theatre website from mid-February.

New album

Also, I am working on material for new live shows and an album – again working with Daniel Kyzlink (composer of The Rock Mass) as producer. The album will be called Songs of Innocence and Experience, a title inspired, of course, by the enigmatic William Blake. Musically I am returning more to my acoustic roots in English, Irish and Scottish folk music, but having said that, will be working with some extraordinary musicians. It will be anything but a 'folk' album, but rather a fusion of diverse styles. My aim is to produce an album that is worth listening to more than once! Like The Rock Mass, the mood will but positive, but also explore some deep mystical and spiritual themes from a somewhat sideways perspective (after all, most song writers are poets and philosophers).

Further performances of The Rock Mass in October

Also, we have been short-listed for a grant from The Ministry of Culture for two further Rock Mass shows at the end of October – a further performance in Brno and one in Prague.

So although I may not appear to be doing much at the moment, a lot is going on which will result in some great live music! I'll keep you posted. Thanks so much for your patience and ongoing support, and again, I hope 2017 will be peaceful and productive for you.
